Here at HireRight, our teams are building the future of screening services while striving to put the customer first. Internally, we rally around a culture committed to collaboration, service-first mindset, sense of ownership, and other corporate values to help employers get it right – every time, everywhere. But what is it like to work here? And who are the employees behind our background screening and workforce solutions?
Today, we are thrilled to speak with two members of our verifications teams in Poland and Estonia. Paulina Chrobak from our Katowice, Poland, office and Raquel Yhap from our Tallinn, Estonia office share their experiences in verification research. Verification Researchers and Quality Assurance Specialists are the teams that work behind the scenes to verify credentials with past employers and educational institutions. These positions in background screening services are often popular with multi-lingual students, recent grads, and those looking for a career change.
Keep reading to hear more from Paulina and Raquel on #LifeAtHireRight, working in research supporting background screening requests around the globe, and how HireRight makes onboarding easy for applicants of all entry levels by providing full job training for most positions.
How long have you worked at HireRight, and what is your role? How many languages do you speak?
Paulina: I have been working at HireRight for more than two years. Prior to joining HireRight, I was employed as a cabin crew member for an airline, and I am also finishing my university degree while working. My first role was Junior Researcher, then Verification Researcher, and currently, I am a Quality Assurance Specialist. I speak English, and my native language is Polish. I also know a little bit of German, and my next goal is to learn Spanish.
Raquel: I started as a trainee Language Researcher, then I became a Language Researcher. I was promoted in 2015 to a Senior Verification Researcher in the Tallinn, Estonia office. I can speak three languages fluently: English, Estonian, and Dutch, which is my native language. I am originally from Suriname, a former Dutch Colony.
What attracted you to work at HireRight?
Paulina: I was attracted to speaking English on a daily basis and working with an international team. I am also a psychology student and a fitness trainer. I am happy to find a job that offers a good work-life balance so that I could keep my after-work passions.
Raquel: Speaking and working in the Dutch language, my mother tongue, daily is what attracted me the most to HireRight. I was also intrigued about a verification job, as I have never done that before HireRight!
What is the day-to-day experience like for a researcher?
Paulina: The daily routine for researchers is great because every day, you are doing something different. I conduct research on the internet, call employers and universities, communicate with applicants, and prepare reports for clients. I really like this job! Also, you can always count on your teammates – they are happy to help.
Raquel: Every day I am obtaining verification for the applicants by doing research on the internet and calling. As a Senior Researcher, I also help train the new researchers at HireRight.
What are good qualities for researchers to have?
Paulina: I think that a person interested in this role is to be curious and to be a team player. Also, this job is for people who like new challenges and like to work in an international environment.
Raquel: I think that a researcher needs to be detail-oriented and very inquisitive.
What is #LifeAtHireRight to you?
Paulina: #LifeAtHireRight means amazing people to work with, an international environment, and a great place to improve my skills. I always feel that I can count on my teammates, team leaders, and managers. HireRight has a really friendly attitude towards the employee. People are allowed to be themselves, and I think this is awesome! Everyone is different, but together we make a team, and we can learn from each other.
Raquel: #LifeAtHireRight means that every day is different. Some days are a normal workday, and some days can be challenging, but there are always other people here to help you out with your work. Additionally, I have never worked a verification job before, so it was new to me. I like that it feels like I am doing detective work! I have never experienced this in another job.
What do you like best about your office?
Paulina: I like the location of the Katowice office, located in the city centre, and the view from the office. I really miss the sunrises while traveling to the office; they looked incredible! I love to have meals in the office together with my coworkers; everyone brought in sweets or fruit to share with everyone. It was also nice to always be around my coworkers, so when assistance is needed, you can ask for help.
Raquel: I love the diversity of the people working in the office! There are different cultures and also different opinions and ways of seeing solutions to problems from the different teams. I also work with the teams in the Katowice office and have built relationships with my colleagues over chat, email, and phone.
